Edward Lovell Fishing Reels
E. Lovell Fishing Reels - Savannah, GA
Edward Lovell fishing reels were sold out of his hardware store in
the 1840's. He had moved from Boston, MA in 1835. The Savannah (SAVh) markings
on his reels makes them from the earliest known southern fishing reel dealer and
retailer found to date. The age and some distinguishing features on the reel
pictured below indicate it was made by J.B. Crook in New York. Lovell reels are
considered to be from one of the great early tackle dealers.
